UPDATE OF COMPETITION DETAILS

Hello to all of our members. We have purposely refrained from offering regular COVID 19 updates. We’re sure everyone has been inundated with information from many different sources over the past two months. We do hope though that everyone has been staying active and safe while remaining sane.

The Rocky Touch management committee met last night to discuss the state of the game here in Rockhampton for the remainder of 2020.

The government’s roadmap to easing restrictions shows Stage 3 set to apply from 10th July and includes activities for groups of up to 100 people. Unfortunately, this would only allow us to cater for three (3) games at one time and therefore is not feasible for any of our competitions. So we acknowledge that we will need to remain patient until that limit at least doubles. We are hopeful that easing of restrictions will progress more rapidly than anticipated if all goes well.

With regards to how the competitions will look once we do recommence, please be advised of the following important information:-

SENIOR – Monday night Mixed and Wednesday night Grades competitions will continue as they were prior to COVID 19 to a conclusion sometime in early November (depending on recommencement dates) – so one season only. We WILL be accepting new teams if more wish to join (more information on how to nominate etc will be available in the coming weeks) and teams no longer able to participate will need to inform us of that as soon as possible – email admin@rockytouch.com. Teams or individual players no longer able to participate can request a partial refund of registration via the above email stating name, date of birth, team registered to and address for cheque payment to be posted to.

JUNIOR – our Friday night junior competition as it was prior to COVID 19 will be cancelled and a new season scheduled in our normal season two format. Nominations will be called for teams /players in the following divisions: 6 and under / 8 and under (mixed or girls) / 10 and under boys, girls, mixed / 12 and under boys, girls, mixed / 14 and under boys, girls. (Possibility 14s may be scheduled to play on Saturdays with all other junior divisions).

All registered junior players from the cancelled competition will retain full registration for the new season. Any player who has not yet paid will be required to do so to participate in the new season (please contact Denise if unsure).

So for now, we have no idea when we will be able to recommence but we will work hard towards being ready to go immediately restrictions allow.  TFA is currently working closely with Aust Institute of Sport to produce safe protocols for returning to Touch and you can rest assured all possible measures will be put in place at our complex to ensure the safety of our members once we are able to get going again.

We are all keen to get back onto the field as soon as possible and we can all contribute by continuing the safety measures applied to our everyday life in these current crazy times – ie washing hands, social distancing, staying home and being tested if feeling unwell and getting the COVID app on your phone will also help with contacting in emergencies. Take care and stay safe.
